Reverie Retreat, Couple

Towards the beginning of April, 2025, I was fortunate to attend a photographer retreat that was based in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Two photographers hosted it and we had about 8-9 more photographers join in-so fun!

The meeting time was early, 7 am, and it wasn't a warm morning. Unfortunately for me, coffee queen here, my coffee maker decided to quit on me that morning. I told myself it was okay, just get there! So I got ready and headed out the door.

Our retreat was at the top of a parking ramp in downtown. We have some pretty amazing views from all around Grand Rapids and I knew if they were picking this spot, it must be a good one! We were all getting acquainted with one another when finally the sound of an old, vintage car started getting closer to us.

[What.A.Beauty & A GREAT sound]

This car was remarkable, spotless and classy as you-know-what! I was so excited; I LOVE cars... give me a chair, a drink and put me on our main drag during the end of the summer for Grand Rapids' Metro Cruise and I'm a happy girl.

It was so fun capturing this couple. They were dressed amazingly well, albiet cold. They had such great attitudes, were up for anything and had the best on camera chemistry (they are married). I was able to push my creativity and learn from others while having so much fun.

During our shoot we had a large portable speaker that was playing songs mainly by Frank Sinatra and man, that couldn't have been more perfect. Maybe that's another reason this shoot was so magical to me- i LOVE music from that era. It gives all the feels! <3

Such a dream of a shoot- thank you so much Kelsy and Lauryn for hosting a great retreat and pushing our creative boundaries, oh, and for the Madcap coffee too ;)
